I just can’t support prices that feel like extortion to me. The Sentinel LEGO Marvel set, as much as it pains me to do so. I’ll be waiting for a sale on this particular X-Men vs. As much as I want the figures in this set, the chances of me buying a set with a cost-per-piece of 15 cents is zero. I’m positively gutted by $49.99 for a set with 336 pieces. The big downside to the 76022 LEGO X-Men vs The Sentinel set is the price. Though the LEGO Sentinel, Storm, Wolverine and Magneto we’re getting this year don’t resemble their movie counterparts (at all), I’m happier having classic comic book versions of those characters in LEGO form anyway! That’s why this year’s only LEGO X-Men set is packed with three minifigures of characters pivotal to the movie, plus a Sentinel (and a random LEGO Cyclops minifigure). While LEGO doesn’t hold the rights to make movie-based X-Men sets (the X-Men movie licensing rights are held by FOX and not Disney, of course), that doesn’t mean that they can’t make sets with similar characters to the movie. The Sentinel set! The main portion of this set is a LEGO Blackbird (the X-Men’s jet), but it also include a well-articulated (but sort of goofy-looking) LEGO Sentinel figure, as well as LEGO minifigures of Wolverine (Brown Costume), Cyclops, Storm and Magneto. To celebrate the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past this week, LEGO has non-coincidentally also released the sole LEGO Marvel X-Men themed set of 2014–the LEGO 76022 X-Men vs. And in the case of the three LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy sets, it appears that we’re going to have to wait at least a few more weeks.īut LEGO knows how to strike when the iron is hot, and there was no way that they were going to miss their chance to capitalize on the opening of the new X-Men: Days of Future Past movie! And so, though I had no inkling that there had been a new LEGO Marvel summer 2014 sets released yet at all, I strolled into my local LEGO Store today and stumbled upon something unexpected… Seeing as how the winter 2014 LEGO Marvel sets were almost two months late this year, I really hadn’t expected to see any of the Summer 2014 LEGO Marvel sets for a little while yet.
